Treatment Course & Cadence
Tattoo removal is typically carried out at 4–6 week intervals between sessions, with the total number of sessions depending on the size, colour and depth of the tattoo, and assessed individually by your clinician.
Pre-Treatment Care
Avoid tanning or unprotected sun exposure on the treatment area for at least 2–4 weeks before your appointment, and apply a daily SPF50+ sunscreen — tanned or sun-affected skin is more likely to react to laser treatment.
Aftercare
Some pinpoint bleeding, redness or swelling immediately after treatment is normal, and the area may blister as part of the healing process — this protects the skin and should be left to heal naturally rather than popped. Keep the area dry for the first two hours, then wash gently without rubbing and pat dry. Avoid exercise for 48 hours, and avoid sun exposure and tight clothing rubbing on the area while it heals. Your clinician will advise on any dressing and confirm your personal aftercare plan.

During your consultation, your clinician will consider factors such as your skin tone relative to the tattoo’s ink colour (darker skin tones may need longer intervals between sessions to reduce risk), healing conditions (including diabetes-related healing issues), connective tissue disease, recent radiation therapy or chemotherapy, sensitivity to anaesthetic or antibiotic medications, a tendency toward photosensitivity, and active cancer or other serious illness, to confirm this treatment is appropriate for you.
