What Is Vascular & Spider Vein Removal
Vascular & Spider Vein Removal treats unwanted blood vessels beneath the skin, including spider veins, telangiectasia, cherry angiomas and broken capillaries on both the face and body. Depending on the type, depth and vascularity of the vessels being treated, your clinician selects the most appropriate vascular technology following your assessment — this may include a 532nm vascular laser, diode vascular laser, or another appropriate modality.
The treated vessels absorb the light or laser energy, and your body naturally disperses them over the following days to weeks. Treatment also helps stimulate dermal collagen and increase epidermal thickness and density, so vessels are less likely to sit close to the surface, while improving the overall elasticity and resilience of the skin.
At Cosmetic Skin Co’s Bulleen clinic, we treat both surface veins and complex, interwoven networks of small capillaries with precision, sparing the healthy vessels around them.
Benefits of Vascular & Spider Vein Removal
- Minimises and eliminates spider veins, cherry angiomas and broken capillaries
- Selectively heats and disables blood vessels of different sizes below the skin’s surface
- Treats complex and interwoven vessel networks with accuracy, sparing surrounding healthy skin
- Stimulates dermal collagen and improves skin elasticity as vessels clear
- Reduced pain and side effects compared to older technologies, with most people returning to normal activities immediately
Clients should notice a change in the colour of the treated capillary if the treatment has been successful, and the body will then reabsorb the vessel over the following weeks. Some cases require 4 to 6 sessions, with follow-ups scheduled 2 to 4 weeks apart.
Best For
This treatment is one of our recommended options for:
Aftercare
Wear sunscreen daily and avoid sun exposure on the treated area. Avoid hot showers, pools, spas, saunas and other heat-inducing activities for 48 hours after treatment, and use only gentle, clinician-recommended cleansers, moisturisers and cooling products during this time. Avoid picking at the skin and let it heal naturally. Avoid sunbeds and tanning for 4 weeks before and after treatment. If any blistering occurs, a soothing antibiotic ointment can help, and any scabbing should be kept moisturised. Contact the clinic if you have any questions or concerns during your recovery.
Maintaining Your Results
Treated vessels can occasionally return, and new vessels may appear over time, so an occasional maintenance session may be recommended. Daily sunscreen, and moderating known triggers such as hot drinks, alcohol, spicy food and excessive heat, can help prolong your results.
Is This Treatment Right for You?
This treatment isn’t suitable for everyone. During your consultation, your clinician will check for factors such as vascular birthmarks, varicose veins, and keloid or hypertrophic scarring, along with your general skin and vascular health, to confirm this treatment is appropriate for you.
