About the procedure
The Skin Needling treatment works by creating microscopic puncture channels in the skin, inducing the body’s natural wound healing response and several of the skin’s self-rejuvenating functions. This naturally minimizes lines, wrinkles, laxity, scarring, stretch marks, pigmentation, and uneven texture.
The treatment session usually takes about 60 minutes, depending on the area(s) being treated. After the procedure, your skin will be red, and it might feel tight and sensitive to the touch. Although these symptoms may take 2-3 days to resolve completely, they will diminish significantly within a few hours after treatment.
Best For
This treatment is one of our recommended options for:
Treatment Course & Cadence
Skin needling is typically performed 4–6 weeks apart, and can be alternated with other treatments as part of your overall skin plan.
Pre-Treatment Care
Good cosmeceutical skincare preparation in the lead-up to your appointment helps ensure the best results. Stop using topical retinol at least 5 days before treatment, and avoid waxing the treatment area for 2 days prior.
Aftercare
For the first 48 hours, avoid exercise, saunas, hot tubs and sunbeds, avoid strong sun exposure, and hold off on sunscreen during this window (resuming daily SPF after 48 hours). Avoid touching your treated skin unnecessarily, and always wash your hands first if you do. Use only your clinician’s recommended hydrating products for the first 24 hours, and avoid makeup during this time — if needed, only a 100% pure mineral powder makeup is suitable. Some redness and tightness is normal and usually settles within a few days.
Is This Treatment Right for You?
Skin needling isn’t suitable for everyone. During your consultation, your clinician will check for factors such as use of Accutane/isotretinoin within the last 6 months, blood-thinning medication or frequent aspirin use, active or inflamed acne, recent sunburn or windburn, cold sores, open lesions, and eczema, to confirm this treatment is appropriate for you.
